Riding on the success of The Walking Dead, Lauren Cohan stars in this pretty average Horror.Late as always on the bandwagon for everything, only a few days ago I've finally watched The Boy, that originally came out here in the UK on the 19th of February 2016. The film stars: everybody’s favorite preggo, Lauren Cohan AKA Maggie from The Walking Dead, Diana Hardcastle, Jim Norton, Rupert Evans and a porcelain doll. Director is William Brent Bell who’s only other movie I knew of is The Devil Inside, which I can’t remember if I've seen or not. The Boy is about an American girl, Maggie (I’m sorry I cannot call her Greta), who’s moving to a huge mansion somewhere in England to work as a nanny and look after Mr and Mrs Heelshire’s young lad, which is *dun dun dun* ... a doll!
![]() After about a day of getting trained on Brahmsy’s routine, poor Maggie is left there alone to look after him while the two old timers go on holiday, and she discovers from the, much older than average, delivery boy Malcolm than the couple’s son died 20 years ago in a fire. When Brahmsy starts to move around and makes her stuff disappear, seems pretty obvious the doll is possessed with the dead child’s restless soul. I did enjoy this movie up until the twist, which I have to admit, I’ll give them points for because I did not see that coming, but the end was a bit of a let down. More than a few good jump scares made it worth a watch, but it’s just an average Horror in my humble opinion. Acting was good, creep factor on point and premises amazing, they could have done so much more with what they had to start with though!
