Horror Anthologies are usually a lot of fun and this is no different.

Holidays is another little gem 2016 brought us which came out on April 22nd. How can you go wrong with an anthology of sickly twisted (and in some parts also funny) stories of everybody's favourite holidays made by 9 different directors?

The Holidays included are:

  • Valentine’s Day: an idea for a very special present for the one you love.
Holidays starts off with a bang! This segment was written and directed by Kevin Kölsch & Dennis Widmyer, I also really enjoyed their full length movie Starry Eyes, go check it out if you haven’t yet.

  • St Patrick’s Day: once again confirms the fact that gingers have no soul. Very eerie Irish tale written and directed by Gary Shore, who was behind the camera for Dracula Untold.
  • Easter: Do not go walk around the house the night before Easter. Written and directed by Nicholas McCarthy who also wrote and directed The Pact and At the Devil's Door, this section has some cool creature effects in it.
  • Mother's Day: The joy of motherhood. Written and directed by Sarah Adina Smith (whom her one only full length feature is The Midnight Swim), unfortunately when the story started to pick up and get interesting, it was over.

  • Father’s Day: What’s best than to be reunited with your long lost father. My reward sticker has to go to Anthony Scott Burns and his distress filled Father's Day, I'm sure I didn't even blink during that episode. Anthony did a few shorts but didn’t direct a full length movie yet - I really think he should!
  • Halloween: Do not piss off a hooker. Done by Kevin Smith. Dan was really excited about his section because he’s a huge fan, but even if I haven’t seen many of his movies still enjoyed this funny and kinky holiday – plus his daughter Harley Quinn (yes, that’s her actual name) is in it. She definitely didn’t get her good looks from him thank fuck!

  • Christmas: Parents are way under too much pressure to buy the right present for their children. Written & directed by Scott Stewart (Priest) starring Seth Green – since I'm big Seth Green fan , this was surprisingly my least favourite.
  • New Years: Blind dates never end well. Written by Kevin Kölsch & Dennis Widmyer(see Valentine’s Day) and directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer starring Lorenza Izzo, who I personally think has a great future ahead of her not just because she is married to Eli Roth and that means will have work until the day she dies, but because I actually thinks she is a good actress and also seems a very sweet down to earth chick - in a recent interview about this project she confessed she gets scared when watching horror movies. Awww!!!

"My love affair with these Horror Anthologies began back in the day when I used to watch Tales From The Crypt until more recently the V/H/S franchise - I mean, what an awesome idea it is? "

I don’t know why they didn’t do Memorial Day with some Zombie veterans... That would have been bad ass!

My love affair with these Horror Anthologies began back in the day when I used to watch Tales From The Crypt until more recently the V/H/S franchise - I mean, what an awesome idea it is? Even if you are not too into one of the stories you know it will be over soon and there is a whole new mini movie starting next!

8/10
