I discovered the Italian Metalcore band Sharks In Your Mouth back in 2015 when they covered Linkin Park’s ‘One Step Closer’ and absolutely fucking nailed it. About a year later they dropped their debut album Promises which took me totally by surprise with how truly amazing it was, and still is.
We, the Covenant have been patiently waiting for the follow up, which is now only weeks away and have been rewarded with a little taste of things to come with ‘Sacrilegious’.
Straight off the bat ‘Sacrilegious’ confirms a few things for me; as a band, Sharks In Your Mouth have evolved and played with their base sound, and it totally works.
The other point is, we won’t just get a carbon copy of the previous album. The tweaks aren’t massive, just enough to ensure something fresh yet familiar.
The track also pulses with energy, I can see ‘Sacrilegious’ blowing the roofs of venues in the near future, especially during that bridge (which sounds so much like King 810 it's not funny).
Italy is fast becoming a world Metalcore heavy weight in my eyes, with the sub-genre really taking off with heaps of great bands starting to appear, and Sharks In Your Mouth is very much in the vanguard leading this charge.
