Believe it or not, I actually enjoy musical styles other than Metalcore - shocking I know.
The London/ Berlin based Rock band Livingston, have a new album in the works, in the mean time they've filled us in on what they've been up too since their last release and even dropped a taste of things to come with the lead single 'Sabotage'.
After the release of their last album Animal in 2014, the band decided that there wasn't enough money in show business and turned to a life of crime, committing a series of bank robberies in the US, and after being caught, tried, sentenced and "later the eventual extradition back to Europe for Beukes, Jan and Phil, and the incarceration of Chris in the US", they decided to try music again.
So it sounds to me that This Is A Robbery is set to be a concept album following the band's "supposed" exploits during this period, and I'm interested as hell, I love a good concept album!
But as for the song itself, 'Sabotage' is a certified banger for me. It's slowed down to a nice lazy pace that makes it feel like it's just floating along peacefully.
It helps install a sense of a dreamlike ambiance to the track as a whole. The vocals drone on beautifully, while the music keeps it simple to great effect, less really is more in this case. Even after just one listen, 'Sabotage' left me with a small sense of dread with hints of sadness, not in the negative way, but in a 'connected to the song' kind of vibe.
Despite the fact Livingston have made quite the name for themselves in Europe (especially Germany), I had never heard of them before, but I've found 'Sabotage' as a great introduction. The feelings they've managed to get out of me, with what appears to be next to no effort, is fucking impressive.
Add the fact that their next release is shaping up to be an interesting as hell sounding concept has my curiosity peaked to the maximum, how about yours?
