My first taste of the Belgium 'Core scene.

"...you might not hear it on your first listen, but it slowly dawns on you that 'Nemesis' is actually quite uplifting with its message."

I had promised myself to try and limit the amount of Metalcore I review this year, you know, give the other genres a chance to impress me. I had even planned on doing something different this week, but then I heard 'Nemesis' from the Belgium band Moments and all that went out the window, for now at least.

I find it a bit hard to explain why I gravitated towards 'Nemesis' so much. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing song, otherwise we wouldn't be featuring it as our Track of the Week, it's just really difficult for me to put into words, it's more of a feeling, but I think one aspect has to be that 'Nemesis' has no gradual build up and just jumps straight in, with its technical riffs blazing and punchy as hell drumming, a theme that continues the whole way through.

And then we have the lyrical content, you might not hear it on your first listen, but it slowly dawns on you that 'Nemesis' is actually quite uplifting with its message. Moments themselves had even explained: "'Nemesis' is about fighting your own shadows and not being afraid to face them. We all go through dark times at some point and if you've ever felt that way, 'Nemesis' is a song for you."

Moments
The young Melodic Hardcore veterans out of Belgium have been busy since their inception in 2011, releasing 4 albums, touring quite relentlessly with some huge names (Bury Tomorrow, While She Sleeps) and performing at numerous festivals all over the continent.

They also have no intention of slowing down either, 'Nemesis' premiered not that long ago on the 12th of March, and with their last record (Outlast) three years old now, I would assume Moments are gearing up for another big release before the year is out, which would of course include yet another tour around Europe.

And after hearing what they can do with 'Nemesis', I'm more than a little curious for more awesome musical Moments (bad pun, not sorry).
8/10

"it doesn't really matter what kind of single 'Endorphin' is, what is important though, is if it kicks arse or not, and fortunately for us I can confirm that yes, it does."

"it wasn't a gradual wave of enjoyment like with some music, but more of an instant realisation that 'Heaven' is an amazingly powerful track."

"it is the amazing duo of Brian Burkheiser and Eric Vanlerberghe vocals that really set 'Bow Down' apart from other songs"
