What do you get when you mix the sounds of Bring Me The Horizon and early 30 Seconds to Mars, then add more than a splash of Progressiveness? A Swedish quartet called Solence who are more Alt Metal than Metalcore.
It's funny, on my first listen I wasn't overly impressed with what I had heard and almost wrote 'Heaven' off, but something in the back of my head told me to stop what I was doing, listen again and give it all of my attention.
And I'm glad I did, it wasn't a gradual wave of enjoyment like with some music, but more of an instant realisation (on the second listen) that 'Heaven' is an amazingly powerful track.
The lyrics are immensely positive and uplifting (without it being too cheesy), while the music is addictively awesome, I found myself over the weekend singing and mimicking the instruments, all after not hearing 'Heaven' since Friday afternoon. The song stays with you.
Solence's 'Heaven' really reminds me of Bring Me The Horizon's 'Shadow Moses', while it doesn't sound exactly the same, there are some similarities, and I'm certain BMTH is a massive influence on the young Swedish group.
The other reason it reminds me of 'Shadow Moses' is because 'Heaven' has made me start to take notice in Solence, much like 'Shadow' did for Bring Me The Horizon, and with their debut album Brothers set for release on the 28th of this month, the timing couldn't be better!
