Anima Tempo

Who Are They?
Anima Tempo is a band from Mexico City formed in 2009, their discography include the concept album Caged In Memeories (2016), and they have just unleashed the single 'Deceitful Idols' on the 22nd of May, see what the band has to say about the track and their upcoming album that is in the making: "The main inspiration behind 'Deceitful idols' were world cultures and the evolution, or lack thereof, of the human being though the years, in parallel with the development of the technology.

Our next album will be a crossover between different cultures, sounds and ethnicity, and this single is just a taste. In this case, 'Deceitful Idols' is a mix of Asian music with very personal lyrics, dedicated to the arrival of the Spanish caravans and their conquest of the Americas, in particular Central America - where we write from.

The overall idea is to force reflection, and meditation, about whether we are on the way to developing and evolving, or not."

Who Is She?
Australian Rapper Zheani's latest effort The Zheani Sparkes EP was released on the 29th of May and has as its cover a school photo of the artist from 2008 and includes the track featured below.

Here's the contents of her EP in Zheani's own words: “With The Zheani Sparkes EP, I aimed to provide context after a year of being relentlessly picked apart and judged online. I wanted to dive back into embarrassing memories that I have for the longest time suppressed and through a process like alchemy, transmute them into music. My hope is the project will help me finally resolve and leave these memories behind and also help others that have gone through similar experiences feel less alone.

With The Zheani Sparkes EP I take a past that I was ashamed of and stake a claim to it knowing it made me the woman I am today. A woman that I am proud of.”

Yours Truly

Picture
Who Are They?
Yours Truly is an band out of Sydney, Australia, made up of Mikaila Delgado (Vocals), Teddie Winder-Haron (Guitar), Lachlan Cronin (Guitar) and Bradley Cronan (Drums) . Their debut album Self Care will be out on the 18th of September, and will follow the EP Afterglow that was released in April 2019 and reached more than 8.5 million streams to this day.

Here's what Mikaila had to say about the single we feature below "'Together' is about feeling the stress and uneasiness of imposter syndrome. I had a lot of fear and anxiety coming into this album, having this expectation to exceed what we did with Afterglow. I remember telling myself 'you need to write the best songs of your life' and getting upset about the possibility of not being able to prove ourselves. One night I turned to Lachlan (Cronin, guitar) and said 'I just feel all the colour has been drained from my brain' and we both looked at each other with wide eyes, and that's how the idea of 'Together' came about."

Häxan

The trio has already performed at many Festivals in Europe as well as the US, such as Monsters of Rock cruise, Rock the Boat, Planet Rockstock, Hard Rock Hell, HRH AOR, Rock and Bike Fest, The Farmyard Party, Demerock, Sasem Dusem, and were also handpicked by Status Quo as main support for their performance at Lechlade Music Festival. Häxan has also supported the likes of Phil Campbell (Motörhead) and The Bastard Sons, The Subways, Electric 6, Dr and the Medics and UFO.

Häxan's first album White Noise came out the 24th of July and features the track 'Nine Lives' - before checking it out, see what the band said on the making of:

“Listening to the first studio mix of ‘Nine Lives’ just sparked imagination and Sam couldn't shake the idea of a fast paced post-apocalyptic demolition derby comic book style video! As always, we encouraged each others' madness and got to work at making this happen.

Filming a safe, socially distanced music video was not without its challenges, and we didn't make things easy for ourselves either. We set out to find a location that matched our vision, and after a twist of fate, we ended up in an abandoned warehouse. Throw in some old tyres and oil barrels on fire, and we had our set!

On filming day, we couldn't park anywhere near the location so had to make about 40 trips carrying amps, drums, lights, a generator, and a menagerie of other items! After around 7 hours of setting up, we were ready to shoot. However just as we were about to hit record, the police showed up as they had received reports of an illegal rave! Cue another couple of hours of persuading the authorities to let us film and convincing them we were most definitely not having a rave; we were given a 45 minute window to film.

We smashed it out, hired a very talented artist from the USA to create some incredible artwork, and that little idea we just couldn't shake became a reality!

The track is about having no fear and living on the edge, and we think the video fits that theme perfectly!”
