Demob Happy is an alternative indie rock English group, that started back in 2008 in Newcastle upon Tyne and is now based in Brighton. The band is composed of singer-bassist Matthew Marcantonio, drummer Thomas Armstrong and guitarist Adam Godfrey, even though initially the group was formed by 4 people.

Their vintage sound is engaging with rhythms that continually change from slow psychedelic to electric guitar lash, to raw bass and drums; I also really enjoy their use of choruses and the lead singer has a very clear voice.

I have personally lost my head to the piece ‘Running Around’, I might be crazy, but it brought me back to the pure indie style of Led Zeppelin and gave me a feeling similar to that of a good fuck.... oops!!

Also noteworthy are the songs ‘Autoportrait’ that came out recently, ‘Dead Dreamers’ which is the track with which I had the pleasure of discovering them and has a more modern and urgent rhythm, and ‘Strange Things’ that I find very sensual and at the same time fun and is something that makes me think of Blur.

Demob Happy have three albums under their belt, Dream Soda from 2015 and Holy Doom from 2018, the latter has also been released in a deluxe version with unplugged tunes.

To me these guys deserve a nice 9+
