On the 19th of November 2015 the one and only Marilyn Manson returned to London for a quick show at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

Now I’ve been a fan of Marilyn Manson for years, even when my friends were horrified at what he was and what he did, I was like “yep, this guy’s pretty cool”. While I liked his music, I’ve never been a die hard fan. But still when my girlfriend heard he was coming for a show she got excited and it didn’t take much to convince me to join her.

The Marilyn Manson show was amazing. Lasers shining everywhere, change of outfit almost every song, the brilliant theatrics on stage and of course the perfect mixture of old and a few new songs. All of that was there and it made for an awesome show. But, it was short, only 13 tracks were done and they were on stage for just over an hour, while most shows for this price go for at least 90 minutes.

The other thing was Manson himself, his singing was horrible, while he was running, skipping, dancing around the stage and putting on a superb visual performance his lyric work was rubbish, it sounded mumbled and at times gibberish. Even the old classic songs where I knew the words I struggled to make out what he was singing.

So this is a bit of a weird one for me, I really enjoyed the visual aspect of the show and the fact it was someone who I’ve enjoyed musically over the years, I just feel he failed on the night vocally while again the performance was a bit too short.

It just goes to show that everyone has their good and bad nights and I got Manson on one of his bad evenings. I’m also more than willing to see him again in the future to give him another chance and re-evaluate my thoughts and my score.

7/10

This footage is from circa 1996 of Marilyn Manson performing Antichrist Superstar. Was pretty exciting to see he still uses the podium, only this time he looked a lot less like a demonic puppet.

Half of Manson band went to Zombie, and I can't tell you for sure if that's even partially a reason, but even though I will always be more of a Reverend fan, I can't deny Rob's show was a thousand times better.

Antichrist Superstar is probably Marilyn Manson's most iconic album. One you can listen to from start to finish without skipping a song.

While musically not similar, Marilyn Manson and Ghost are both awesomesauce WTF bands, here's Ghost's latest album, Meliora.
