Let’s just get the major thing out of the way first, Logan is awesomesauce. That feels better, but yes, it’s true, unlike the Suicide Squad movie of last year that had an amazing trailer but then failed epically, Logan has both, the teasers hooked you without giving anything major away and the final product live up to the previews promises and then some.
Logan as we all know is a Superhero action flick but it brought a bit of comedy to the plate as well as a touch of drama, though not too much, it knew what type of film it was and stuck to it for the most part. This was director James Mangold’s second outing calling the shots behind the scenes having done The Wolverine back in 2013, after seeing what he’s done here I’m now more than happy to go back and check that one out.

Seriously, even in retirement people still manage to piss him off.
Logan is set in 2029 where the future is bleak for mutants and superheroes, a quick offhand comment mentions that they have all died with the exception of our main dude Mr Weapon X, Charles Xavier and Caliban, though the trio let the world think they’ve past on.

Wolverine has given up on the hero duties and is a limo driver trying to earn enough cash to buy a sweet looking yacht for the 3 of them to hide away in, while Caliban mainly looks after the mentally deteriorating Charles. Out on a job one day Logan is approached by a nurse asking for help and offering a huge pay-out, all he has to do is drive across the country with her and her daughter before the bad men (Donald Pierce and his cyborg team known as the Reavers) can capture them.

"This picture is for the film fans out there whether you enjoy or don’t mind the superhero category, Marvel or DC, it won’t matter, you’ll still love it. I will say it again, Logan is fucking awesomesauce."

Ready to kick ass in 3... 2... 1...
Casting is abso-fucking-lutely spot on, of course Hugh Jackman IS Logan (he was born for this), same goes for Sir Patrick Stewart and his portrayal of Xavier. The three I really want mention is Boyd Holbrook as Pierce, he brings a great element of humour to the role with a touch of fanboyism that we would all do in his position.

Stephen Merchant’s Caliban was awesome too, especially since he’s normally known for his comedic work. But my biggest praise must go to little Dafne Keen who plays Laura Kinney / X-23, sadly I can’t delve too deeply into why she wins my praise here without giving the story away, so let’s just say she does steal the show.

Donald Pierce: part human, part cyborg, part fanboy, all arsehole.
Even though 2017 has just begun and it looks to be an awesome year for films, Logan is already one of my top picks, I can’t stop telling everyone I know how epic it is. For 137 minutes I couldn’t tear my eyes off the screen, I was enthralled, so much so, I took into the cinema with me my favourite crisps (chips as they are known everywhere else in the world - lightly salted Kettle Chips in case you wondered) and left with them, unopened, it was that good I didn’t want to spend 3 seconds to open my bag, grab them out and dig in. This picture is for the film fans out there whether you enjoy or don’t mind the superhero category, Marvel or DC, it won’t matter, you’ll still love it. I will say it again, Logan is fucking awesomesauce.
9/10

Not a Superhero, but John Wick: Chapter 2 should be a go to movie if you are ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Another Marvel character, maybe not as popular as Wolverine but that definitely has a big fanbase: Doctor Strange.

Who, as a kid, didn't want to be a mutant turtle that lived in the sewer of New York with a diet made entirely of pizza? TMNT 2 brings all those memories back!
