"Don't be ashamed of not being normal"
A deep look into the mind and soul of Loa, from Alta Sacerdotisa, a Brazilian Strange Metal one man band on everything there is to know about his musical journey so far.
Salvatore: Could you please tell us something about your band?
Loa: The band is called Alta Sacerdotisa, which means High Priestess. Could be a meaningful aspect from the tarot, but it's just a Priestess that, by the way, is very high at the time.
Basically Sacerdotisa is only me. There is no other mind working on it.
In the past I used to recruit members, but there were not minds able to understand and feel the sound I want to pass. My goal as a musician is to reach as many lonely bleeding hearts that find themselves into the depths of a real loneliness. A misanthropy that devours solitude as his keeper devours Benzodiazepines. That also is reflected in the lyrics "Eu sinto minha meditação tão profundamente enquanto minha medicação aprofunda a mente (I feel deep my meditation, as my medication makes deeper my mind).
And... if it can damage other one the same way as it does with me... great!
I am also a great appreciator of some aspects of Thelema, which is being totally misunderstood by a Rock and Roller named Raul Seixas, that unfortunately with his song 'Sociedade Alternativa' ('Alternative Society') Thelema have being seen as the excuse to be promiscuous.
S: How are you handling the quarantine?
L: I'm doing good. Of course I take care of myself with the paranoia of a maniac, as I assume the best way to get rid of the germs and contamination is to see every surface as contaminated, and avoid at all cost, put your hands at your face (any part) after touching anything outside home. I also take good care not to touch my clothes in anything and, if I do, I put it to wash as soon as I get home. And, plus, I'm a martial arts practitioner, ingest healthy food, try to maintain my dopamine flow stable... And so I carry on.
Lucky to live in a place hot as hell, and tropical (Brazil - Manaus (Amazonas)).
S: What made you choose the life of music?
L: I've felt a deep loneliness since I was a child, and music has been the only friend which hasn't betrayed or stabbed me. So I couldn't play anything different that the sound I hear and feel Inside, otherwise I would be betraying music, or what it became to me.
S: Have you ever thought about your musical journey?
L: The more time passes, the less I can deal with people. People in places like Bolivia, Argentina, United Kingdom, Norway and more... are interested in my sound, way more than people from here. But I'm responsible for my family and my dogs, and can't afford to be away from them, as they are my only bridge to sanity.
I've already played live at Cybergothic events, but the pressure of having rehearsals, other minds into the music, prizes... that all was crushing me from the inside, and it was eating all my inspiration to make music. I don't want music to be a palliative, but a real tool to move souls.
S: Anything new in the pipeline (album, track, merch)?
L: I plan to keep Alive. The struggle keeps me productive. If any labels want to make contact, the number is +5592988559666. Talk directly to the Loa, one and only member in Alta Sacerdotisa.
S: Can you let us know something about your last album and/or some songs?
L: Yes. A friend of mine, which I will reserve myself only to refer to him as Prince Metalex, his name on YouTube, was the first to show us to the world. He killed himself listening to our music, when we still were a band called Inaniae, and that is all I will say about it.
And we made the release of our demo DeathNoise, but with the break of the music industry, the essence fading away, the materialistic standing out... I'm totally disappointed and disillusioned about labels, and stuff... anyone who wants to listen to the Deep Dark Electro of Alta Sacerdotisa can hear it on SoundCloud.
The official page on Facebook is facebook.com/altosacerdocio.
S: Do you plan tour ? (If yes where you plan to visit?)
L: If someday I decide to deal with this inability to deal with people, I would love to play in Europe, places like England, Spain, Italy... which have a special meaning to me, as I visited Europe when young.
S: Can we know something about you?
L: I am the real meaning of misanthropy. And I'm trying to get rid of this stigma through the music. Psychiatrist clinics are my Disney. But I try to understand a deep void that was born with me, in me. I miss something much, but never knew what it was... a place, a time, a moment, a made... And my music are the steps that I find to understand a little more of myself, to fulfil the coldness of the void. But I'm a nice guy. I breed dogs and have a picture with Abbath and King ov Hell.
S: Do you have a message for your fans?
L: DON'T BE ASHAMED OF NOT BEING NORMAL. NORMAL ONES MADE THE WORLD WE KNOW TODAY, AND IT'S OUR ROLE TO RECONSTRUCT IT.
