I’ve seen a lot of TMNT lately and is safe to say Out Of The Shadows is the best of the bunch.
Don’t go to the cinema thinking TMNT2 will have an unexpected M. Night Shyamalan twist at the end. Don’t go to the pictures expecting TMNT2 to utilize the same breathtaking cinematography of a Lars von Trier film. Don’t go to the movies hoping for Tarantino style dialogues or the tits and incest of a George R. R. Martin story. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is a plain and simple action movie and if you want to see a butt load of fight sequences, witty jokes and out of this world special effects, you won’t be disappointed one bit. I’ve seen a lot of TMNT lately: the original 1990 movie, the 1st cartoon series and the 2014 reboot, all in preparation of going to the theatre on Saturday to see Out Of The Shadows because let’s be honest, staring at the poster of badass Bebop and Rocksteady every day on my way to work got me curious. And after this week-long marathon on TMNT is safe to say Out Of The Shadows is the best of the bunch.
![]() Helping the TMNT to restore peace on earth are April O’Neil, the news reporter and the person who saved our hero’s shells when they were still 4 innocent turtles, Security guard Casey Jones, who was transferring The Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady to a different penitentiary when they got ambushed by the Foot Clan, and obviously Sensei Splinter who looks so much older that in the first movie… I guess getting beat up to an inch of his life does that to a rat. Returning on set is funny man Will Arnett as Vern Fenwick and the notable new entries are Laura Linney as Police Chief Rebecca Vincent and Tyler Perry as the mad scientist Baxter Stockman. ![]() After watching the 2014 film, my prayers of seeing less of Megan Fox (not because I don’t like her but because she was stealing way too much screen time from the turtles) and a more hunky Shredder have been answered. Problem with The Shredder though, he is a bit of a wuss, and he got defeated in a dumb way. Only good thing about him is that he doesn’t look like a walking tank anymore and the armor is more similar to the original design. Casey Jones is a nice addition to the cast as he is an old fan favourite, even though I’ve heard complaints about his back story not being the same as the comic, but honestly, with the amount of characters and the stuff going on, I really don’t think they had the actual time for a flashback. Bebop and Rocksteady better be coming back in the third film because they are the reason why I was so excited about this and with their idiotic humour didn’t disappoint. In conclusion, would I recommend you to go to the cinema and pay money to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows? Definitely. Unless you don’t like kids, then don’t go, because there are gonna be a lot of them in the theatre.
