Ronon's Reviews is a small independent music website where we, only four of us active at the moment, cover talented up and coming artists and bands (not to mention all the work the behind the scenes!), and while we'd absolutely LOVE to review and/or interview each one that we get excited about, we have a difficult time squeezing everybody in... Enter this new column!
We might not have the time to do a full blown piece on everybody, but we sure can share with you, once a month, the 10 musicians we find worthy of being noticed by the whole wide world!
Talk about 7 minutes in (Prog) heaven.
LestWeForget are one of those hard working bands that never seem to stop and rest, just last year they released the EP Theatres of the Mind, which included the awesome single 'Zero Won'. Instead of just taking it easy during this global pandemic, they've dropped new music in the form of the epic 'Visitors'.
I felt like listening to some aggression... I think I came to the right track...
I first heard of Alpha Wolf a few years ago when one of their tracks was doing the Facebook rounds in some Metal groups I'm in, I can't recall the song anymore, but I remember it was brutal and I was interested. Unfortunately I had (and still do) a lot on my plate and the band slipped off my radar, but 'Akudama', the first single off their upcoming second album called A Quiet Place To Die ensured they wouldn't miss out this time.
Coronavirus needs to fuck off so I can see these girls and guys live!
It was only in the later stages of last year that I realised that Billie Eilish had taken over the world, and if I had any doubts, they were gone once she won triple j's Hottest 100 with 'Bad Guy'. I can't deny it's a catchy tune, but as usual, I've found a better version, this time from the Spanish based band: Ankor.
Back in 2018 I found my summer album with Once More With Feeling, in 2020 I've got my quarantine track with 'Shinjuku'.
I was more than a little curious how Prey Drive could top the epic effort that was their debut album Once More With Feeling. But silly me had nothing to worry about since the four lads from Norwich, United Kingdom, have everything under control with their new single 'Shinjuku'.
