Salvatore today managed to have a chat with RYU, formerly leader and vocalist of the traditional Japanese Rock band OROCHI, that since disbanding after 15 years, started his solo project in 2019 called SOMEI YOSHINO.
Ronon's Reviews is a small independent music website where we, only four of us active at the moment, cover talented up and coming artists and bands (not to mention all the work the behind the scenes!), and while we'd absolutely LOVE to review and/or interview each one that we get excited about, we have a difficult time squeezing everybody in... Enter this new column!
We might not have the time to do a full blown piece on everybody, but we sure can share with you, once a month, the 10 musicians we find worthy of being noticed by the whole wide world!
Just because we're in the middle of a pandemic doesn't mean we can't interview new bands, in fact I feel it's one of the best times: we need to keep the spotlight on the little guys.
With that said, I'd like to introduce you to the Milan based Atwood, who just last month dropped their latest single 'Ghost'.
Who is Periphery?
Periphery is a Progressive Metal band that formed in 2005 in Washington, D.C. Periphery have put out 5 albums before Periphery IV: Hail Stan (math is hard). Periphery left their previous label, Sumerian Records, and started their own record label, 3DOT Recordings, for Periphery IV: Hail Stan.
I've been a massive fan of Birds of Tokyo for years, I first discovered their music back in '07, when they dropped their record Day One with the amazing 'Wayside'; a fan was born the second I heard that song. I followed their music religiously before leaving Australia, even when they continually slid from Alt to Pop Rock and back again. I still loved their music, because no matter what sound they'd use, I could always hear singer Ian Kenny's soul laid out for all to hear.
