Today I am doing something I never thought I would ever do, review a current Tool record.
*First things first, I am not going to delve into the darkest reaches of this album, if I did we could spend weeks on it, so consider this the more "quick review".
Let's get the cat out of the bag straight away, shall we? I do enjoy Fear Inoculum. But... I don't love it as much as some of Tool's earlier albums. There, I've finally said what I've been thinking for almost a month now and feel so much better for it.
Now, before you light your torches and grab your pitchforks to lynch me, hear me out first please?
We Are Not Your Kind is one of my top anticipated albums of 2019, and Slipknot did not disappoint me!
Sometimes when you wait a long time for something, the end result doesn't quite live up to your expectation. Well, I can happily report that isn't the case with Slipknot's sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind.
In fact, for me it has surpassed even my wildest dreams of what the Iowan 9 would ever do, they've both gone back to basics in their sound, while at the same time pushed the envelope and experimenting just enough to create an amazing hybrid, that reminds you of who they were, and where they are going.
The introductory sampler that stood the test of time.
For our very first review of Ronon’s Reviews 2.0 I’ve decided you guys need to know more about Crossfaith, and as you seasoned readers will know, is one of my favourite acts since I discovered their epic EX_MACHINA album last year. But today I’ll be taking you back to 2012, the 20th of June to be exact, when they released the EP Zion.
Firmly putting Vietnam on the Metal map.
When you think of Metalcore bands and where they come from, you’d almost always automatically think of the US, UK, maybe Australia, and your home country - because you know your local scene. Well, today I want you to think of Vietnam, since that’s where our band is from and they totally deserve your attention. WINDRUNNER formed back in early 2015 and have released a totally kick arse EP called VUI, but now it’s time to really show the world what they’re made of, with their debut album MAI, which is out today and I’ve been privileged enough to get early access to.
You think I was going to pass up on one of the biggest Metalcore releases this year?
2016 was a year of polarising highs and lows for the Architects, they released the extremely well received All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, and sadly just three months later, one of the founding members and main songwriter, Tom Searle, passed away of skin cancer. No one would have blamed the Brighton crew for calling it a day and going their separate ways. But in a case of ‘when life gives you lemons’ the boys persevered and dropped a fitting tribute to their fallen brother and bandmate.
