Who is Periphery?
Periphery is a Progressive Metal band that formed in 2005 in Washington, D.C. Periphery have put out 5 albums before Periphery IV: Hail Stan (math is hard). Periphery left their previous label, Sumerian Records, and started their own record label, 3DOT Recordings, for Periphery IV: Hail Stan.
Here we go kids, It's my first list of the end of year series and like I normally do, I'm starting with albums and EPs. Since my major musical kick at the moment (and has been for a few years now) is Metalcore, the genre dominates this list, but as you know, I love a good twist and have a few surprises up my sleeve here for ya!
Sharks In Your Mouth, one of my first musical Italian loves is back with their second full length album, Sacrilegious.
The fateful day has come and gone, in fact it has been over a couple of months since the giant slaying (well done on the boys getting featured on Spotify's New Metal Tracks alongside Slipknot, Asking Alexandria) second album first assaulted our ears. And it's time to see if I was correct with the assumptions I made after listening to 'Sacrilegious' in the lead up.
Northlane perfects the live album, rather than reinvent it.
Northlane, a Metalcore outfit from Sydney Australia has been on the fringes of my musical radar for a long time, I’ve known of them, even know a few tracks by ear, but had never sat down and listened to them much other than their cover on UNFD’s Tribute to Silverchair.
But all that changes, thanks to their latest release, Analog Future, a collection of live tracks taken from across the globe during a recent tour. Normally I wouldn’t review a live album but I couldn’t resist this one as it proves I really need to see a Northlane gig now.
