Dead Fish Handshake make the kind of Rock that hits the spot.
Today we want to shine our spotlight on Dead Fish Handshake (stylised also as DFH) because their new album Lies... and All That Jazz is getting released soon, on the 18th of September to be precise. The record is co-produced by Dead Fish Handshake and Shane Stanton of Architekt Studios, and was preceded by the single 'No One’s Island' on the 7th of August... But let's take a few steps back and see who Dead Fish Handshake are.

The J-Core giants deliver something for everyone with their two track EP Watch Me Burn.
While we can admit for the most part that 2020 has sucked some serious balls, musically speaking though, and especially for Metalcore, it has rocked pretty hard. With my beloved J-Core making quite the impression in the first several months of this utterly shitty year. First we had heavyweights Crossfaith drop their epic teaser EP Species, and now we have Crystal Lake releasing new music in the form of the two track A side EP Watch Me Burn.
Thirty Nights puts Nashville on the Metal map. When Thirty Nights of Violence first came across my desk, I wasn't looking for a Metalcore release to cover, I wanted something different for a change, in fact I was in the mood for some Alt, even Prog Rock or Metal. Ronon's Reviews is a small independent music website where we, only four of us active at the moment, cover talented up and coming artists and bands (not to mention all the work the behind the scenes!), and while we'd absolutely LOVE to review and/or interview each one that we get excited about, we have a difficult time squeezing everybody in... Enter this new column!
We might not have the time to do a full blown piece on everybody, but we sure can share with you, once a month, the 10 musicians we find worthy of being noticed by the whole wide world! Japan is an untapped mine of musical gold and my latest find is no exception. It's no secret that I love my J-Core, you guys see it almost every week, but I can't help if the bands of this genre kick some serious arse. Meet MAKE MY DAY, a Japanese Metalcore, Post-Hardcore and to some degrees, Nu-Metalcore (though some people call it Trancecore) act out of Tokyo, who prior to the Coronavirus outbreak were heading for a massive year.
They dropped their second full length album Mind Haven on the 29th of January before announcing a pretty sizeable tour in support of it, sadly that all went to shit, which is a massive shame for the world. |
