  • 19th of October 2018

Live Acts:
  • Crossfaith
  • Blood Youth
  • GroundCulture

Back in June, we saw A Perfect Circle live and I was blown away by an amazing performance, and had said afterwards that only Tool or Slipknot could top that for me. Well, I like to think Crossfaith read that and said "Hold my beer" before heading out to the stage last Friday night as they did what I thought wasn't possible. They outshined Maynard James Keenan and every other act I've seen this year, and made it look easy.

The new Halloween is out today (October 19th) here in the UK, and since it follows the story directly where the 1978 movie left it, I figured it was appropriate to review this classic. You read that right, that means you won’t need to spend a day watching every single one of the 8 Halloween films of the original run or even the 2 (AWESOME) Rob Zombie reboots to refresh your memory of all Michael Myers' antics, because none of that counts for squat in the whole storyline anymore.

Venom "We are Venom"
When looking back on the vast amount of Superhero movies that have been released in the last few years, I can't remember many that really were quite good. Don't get me started on Justice League or the mind-numbingly boring Avengers series.

The last REAL good superhero flick would have to be Deadpool, and that was a damn Comedy! So, when the trailer for Venom was released, even after viewing it, I had low expectations – and that was a good thing because this Tom Hardy driven feature is very, very entertaining.

Two years ago, my musical world was turned on its head by Beartooth and their  amazing album Aggressive and the gig I saw in December in support of said release. They also had an honourable mention on my  Top Albums of 2016 (which in hindsight should have made the list). The point is, they came out of nowhere and instantly became a favourite band of mine in the space of a few days.
But the question remains, how can they follow this up?

"fourth instalment of the successful series that could go on forever, because so far, they've always managed to keep the story fresh and bring something new to the table."

Written by:
  • James DeMonaco

  • Mugga as Dolores
  • Marisa Tomei as Dr. May Updale

Genre:
  • Horror
  • Action
The First Purge is the second directorial effort for Gerard McMurray after Burning Sands and is the first Purge movie not to be directed by creator James DeMonaco. It is also the fourth instalment of the successful series that could go on forever, because so far, they've always managed to keep the story fresh and bring something new to the table. There are a number of angles they can still explore and maybe the fact that The First Purge is the highest grossing entry in the franchise, means that there are many other people that agree with the way I think.
