2020 is shaping up to be a huge year for films. Franchises are continuing, starting, ending and even taking side steps, we have sequels, reboots and a "Clash of the Titans" match that we all need to see.
Wander through our trailer fueled list and don't forget to let us know what you're "jumping up and down on a couch like Tom Cruise" excited for! No Time To Die
Directed by: Cary Joji Fukunaga
I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for the Bond series, ever since I was a little kid I've loved em. And personally I've found Daniel Craig's anti-hero version the best and a lot closer to the way Bond is written in the original novels. So it will be sad to see him go as this will be his 5th and final outing as 007, but I'm sure he will go out with a massive bang.
Expected: April 2020. Venom 2
Directed by: Andy Serkis
Even though I haven't seen Venom yet, the sequel still makes the list, because I've heard nothing but awesome things from the first, and let's be honest here, Woody Harrelson makes everything better. Sadly no trailer yet, but check out the cameo from the first film to whet your appetite.
Expected: October 2020. Bill & Ted Face The Music
Directed by: Dean Parisot
Bill and Ted are another one of my childhood favourites, and ever since the rumours first started to surface all those years ago (2010 I think), I was excited for this and we don't have long to wait now. Still no trailer, which surprises me, but maybe it's a marketing stunt.
Expected: August 2020. Godzilla Vs Kong
Directed by: Adam Wingard
Yes! This is something I've been waiting for since 2014, when the first Warner Bros. MonsterVerse film, Godzilla came out. Then Kong: Skull Island... Man, this is going to be epic. And from what I've heard, there will be only one winner from the showdown. I love both characters and will be sad to watch one get his ass kicked, but this will be EPIC!
Expected: November 2020. The King's Man
Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
I don't care what anyone says, I love the Kingsman Franchise. The first two films were a great British take on the spy genre and a lot of fun, so I'm really looking forward to the prequel The King's Man, because who doesn't love a good origin story?
Expected: September 2020. Black Widow
Directed by: Cate Shortland
I love Scarlett Johansson, it's not hard to see why she is the 'Highest Paid Actress in Hollywood', she always stands out with her performances, no matter what they might be: in a huge cast (MCU), lead (Marriage Story) or supporting (Jojo Rabbit).
And I also love the character of Black Widow, unlike some of her companions, she has no superpowers, or cool technology/ toys that can help out, no, she just has a couple of guns and a mad set of skills. So I am over the moon that she has finally got her own stand alone film, which I can already tell will kick some serious arse! Expected: May 2020. Wonder Woman 1984
Directed by: Patty Jenkins
Of course Wonder Woman was going to get a sequel, it was an Action Adventure film that kept audiences thrilled rather than asleep (like most of the DCEU). And the trailer confirms that WW84 will be just as awesome as the first. Though I am a little worried... how will they explain Steve is back?
Expected: June 2020. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Directed by: Jason Reitman
First things first, I liked Paul Feig's Ghostbusters, it was a fucking funny reboot that in my mind held its own when it was put next to the original films. But when the son of the first director (Jason Reitman - Juno, Thank You For Smoking and Up In The Air) is asked to make a sequel to the first two movies, you become very excited. As always I was a bit apprehensive, but the trailer steadied my nerves a little. Ghostbusters: Afterlife has the potential to be huge!
Expected: July 2020. Free Guy
Directed by: Shawn Levy
I only heard about Free Guy when I saw the trailer as an advert on YouTube when I was working on January's Video Game Releases. But I'm glad I hesitated to click the skip button. Set in a Grand Theft Auto type of game, Free Guy is about a NPC (Reynolds), who realises that he is in a video game, and decides to change his life.
Straight away, it looks funny as hell, and stars Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi, I don't need to hear anymore, I'm sold. Expected: July 2020. Dune
Directed by: Denis Villeneuve
Anyone who actually knows me, knows that only one other franchise holds as much sway as Star Wars does: Dune.
And Denis Villeneuve has supposedly done the impossible and made the Sci-Fi epic. It was reported that filming had ended late last year and post production, editing and CGI input will happen in the coming months before this behemoth hits our screens. Expected: December 2020. *** No trailer available at the moment**
