"So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view."

Smug Obi Wan KenobiHe always did look a little smug...
Earlier this year it was revealed that an Obi-Wan Kenobi series was in production with Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep) set to reprise one of his most iconic roles.

Fans of course went mental over the confirmation of something they (we) have been wanting for years, going so far that in the past there were even petitions aimed at Disney and Lucasfilm to make this happen.

Since the initial revelation there has been a bit of a details drought, until just the other day when Master Kenobi himself dropped a few juicy details.

how we hope the series will startI really hope the series picks the story up not long after this scene!
This trickle of information came when McGregor spoke with Men’s Journal the other day, where he told them “It’s a fucking massive relief, because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it”, and with that, we have bombshell number one, this has been in the works for at least four years!

He also revealed that the series will be set during the rise of the Empire era, for those of you not totally up with all the Star Wars eras, that means between the Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope films (in case you need a bit more: between the Prequel and Original Trilogies).

This is by far the perfect place to have this show as fans have always wondered what the exiled Jedi Master was up to for nineteen years and it also gives the show runners plenty of space to play around with.

McGregor also stated that the spinoff will have six, hour long episodes, meaning it’s a more like a long mini-series.

The scheduled start of filming is the summer of 2020, so that gives us the hint that we may not see the as of yet titled show for quite a while, my guess would be sometime late-2021 or mid-2022, with a trailer or two late next year.

I'll bet he's wondering why he couldn't work from home too!
As you can guess this information has been music to the legions of Star Wars fans around the world, as Ewan McGregor turned the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi into a massive cultural icon with his portrayal in the Prequel Trilogy and is hugely popular in the Star Wars community.

The excitement levels will continue to rise as more information comes to light and I expect that when this series finally airs it will blow everyone away.
